OUR INSPIRATION - A TRUE STORY
CHOCOSINA was inspired by a beautiful, vibrant, smart and determined little girl named Sidney Lauren Lavoie. An absolute great survival story.
Plagued by a life threatening liver disorder, Sidney was faced with the most important decision of her young life ... whether to live with treatments and a controlled diet for a while longer or risk it all for some normality with a liver transplant.
After much reflexion, Sidney finally decided a transplant was worth every risk. When asked her why, she instantly replied: "Dad, I can't live without chocolate! I won't be happy without sweets!"
Feeling scared, she went into the operating room. After eight long hours, the surgeon came out, looking exhausted, announced Sidney was one of the bravest little girls he's ever met.
On April 14th, 2012 - Sidney survived her transplant.
OUR JOURNEY
CHOCOSINA is owned by Sidney's father and Canadian entrepreneur James Lavoie Montero, with French and Spanish European roots. But to be honest, CHOCOSINA could not be possible without the love and dedication of another special woman, co-partner named Isabelle Forcier, a French-Canadian artist from Montreal, Quebec.
Following Sidney's recovery, our story led us on a 3-year journey across Europe, Canada and the U.S. and other parts of the World, searching for the most delicious novelty sweets. Only the "best of the best" was an option, it was a promise! To share in our personal experience, we put together an elegant selection of our very own favourites, which you will find in our retail shops in Spain and Canada.
The name "CHOCOSINA" is representative of our heritage and main showcase selections; "CHOCOLATE" & "GOLOSINA". A succulent and unique combination of artisanal and candied chocolates. Handcrafted with natural flavourings for persons of all ages.
